Following the resolution with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the uncivil acquisition of Éric Chelle, Moloudia Club of Oran have confirmed on its social media that it has now terminated his contract as its head coach.
Due to a contractual clause that allows him to leave for a national team offer, however, prompted the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 outfit to a melting point of letting the 47-year-old off their books after taking charge for one more time in Saturday’s cup tie with rivals ES Setif.
“The management of MC Oran announces that it has reached a joint agreement with first-team coach Éric Chelle, to terminate the contract between the two parties by compromise.
”The management of the team also thanks him for all he has given to the team, and wishes him all the best in his career,” it read on the club’s official Instagram.
Meanwhile, the NFF in an event on Monday, January 13, 2025, by 11am will reveal the former Mali international as the new Head Coach of the three-time African champions, scheduled for the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gasau, the Federation President, stated that at the unveiling ceremony will also feature the names of Chelle’s assistants, with the technical team to lead the Super Eagles B at next month’s African Nations Championship in East Africa, before focusing squarely on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, beginning with the matches against Rwanda (away) and Zimbabwe (home) in March.
“We appreciate the fact that Nigerians are very passionate about the game of football, and that is the reason for the different tones of reactions following the appointment of Coach Chelle.
“However, the NFF hereby appeals to Nigerians to come together and support him, as we believe he has the qualities to achieve success with the Super Eagles.
“The NFF will give him all the support that he needs to succeed in the job,” the NFF President said.
