It’s a battle of titans as Buffalo Football Club of Ula-Upata faces off against Umanuneye Football Club of Ihuowo for the glory of the 2024 Upata Unity Football Cup.
The match is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the UPE Modern Primary School in Edeoha town, Ahoada. The event will attract top government officials, royalty, and prominent football personalities as special guests.
As a prelude to the final, a youth empowerment program initiated by the tournament sponsor, Eur Ing Dr. Chinedu Ogwus CNN CEng IntPE(UK) (CMgr, FCMI, FAAPM, FCICM, FNISafetyE, FNIPetE JP), will be launched.
The Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara, and his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie will serve as the grand and special guest of honour for the day.
The royalties and high chiefs of the Ahoada community will be led by Eze Igbu of Upata Kingdom III, His Majesty Eze Otuwarikpo (PhD, fnipr, JP).
Former Super Eagles coach and current Technical Adviser of Rivers United, Finidi George (MON), along with former Rivers United captain and current team coordinator, Festus Austine, will lead other football personalities and stakeholders at the final.
“The annual gathering will once again foster unity, and this time, the youth of the town will receive a new direction in life through the empowerment program initiated by Dr. Ogwus. Many youths will have their fortunes changed by this program, and I’m sure that by next year, the community will be more developed than it has ever been,” Festus Austine remarked.
