Edo State Kickboxing Association has announced that the maiden edition of the State Kickboxing Championship will now hold on the 8th and 9th of September 2023.

Speaking to platinumnewsng.com on the new date was the State public relations officer, Mrs Faith Osamede Oronsaye. She said that the Championship was postponed two weeks ago due to the national Open Kickboxing Championship whose date coincided with the state programme and since Edo State is hosting the event with many of her top athletes also taking part in the national championship, there was a need to push the date a little bit forward.

She assured that the state championship which is going to hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium will be a huge event as fighters that cut across over 40 weight classes (which includes kids and seniors for both male and female categories) are expected to take part in the maiden Edition of the championship.

Notable fighters who are expected to grace this all-important event include Emmanuel Bernard Ewa (-63kg), Jackie Ayanna Kamiwa (-60kg), Prince Epere (-53kg), Eze Daniel Emmanuel (+75kg), Jubril Inuwah-Baba (-75kg), etc.

For the Female category, Busayo Idowu (-52kg low kick), Faith Etokhana (-52kg), Agwu Celina (heavyweight), Busari Eniola (-63.5kg, low kick), etc are all expected to compete at this state event.

It would be recalled that the Edo State Kickboxing Association earlier fixed the 18th and 19th of August for the state championship.
