On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission (ESC), Hon. Desmond Amadin Enabulele and other top government officials, will be in attendance for the unveiling ceremony of new appointees of Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens respectively.
Following the strategic reforms for effective management and development of the two state-government owned clubs, the Sports Commission in its statutory authority, has scheduled an event to present the newly appointed managerial staff, technical crew and players of the abovementioned clubs to the public tomorrow by 10am at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.
The following names were announced with immediate effect and have been approved by the ESC Chairman to discharge assigned duties, Rollanson Aituari Odeh becomes the General Manager; Anthony Ipogah, assigned to be the Scouting Coach.
Also, Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka Afolabi, will serve as the Welfare Officer of the current titleholders of the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership.
Others includes Austin Iyamu and Peter Obanor as Technical Director and Team Manager; with Greg Ikhenoba confirmed as substantive Head Coach and Idemudia Osigbemen as the Scouting Coach all for the famously known Benin Arsenal. However, altogether with the newly signed players of both clubs will be unveiled at the event.
Also to specially honour tomorrow’s unveiling, the Edo State Executive Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, with his second-in-command Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa in attendance.
As defending champions of the NWFL Premiership, the State Government has duly added 13 new players to solidify the team ahead of the new season.
Insurance, on the other hand, have also been in business during this transfer window beefing up their squad depth for the second half of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.
According to the Sports Commission Chairman, His Excellence; Senator Monday Okpebholo, has given him the mandate to oversee a complete turnaround in the sports sector, by ensuring that effective and efficient management of the two state-government owned clubs are top priorities.
Therefore, this prompted the Commission under the leadership of the Executive Chairman in appointing ex-football stars and legends who have good track records and achievements in the game of football. Also, are expected to add value and accelerate the progress and development of the clubs.
