The D’Tigers of Nigeria were again defeated by the host nation, Angola on Saturday in their final classification (7-8) game at the ongoing FIBA AfroCan tournament in Angola.
Both teams were defeated by Kenya and Tunisia respectively in their previous classification (5-6) games. With that defeat, Nigeria needed a victory on Saturday to finish 7th on the competition standings with the losing team relegated to the 8th position.
The game appeared to be very close and even throughout in terms of intensity and hunger for the result. Nigeria however won the first quarter 19-18, while the second quarter ended in a tie, 16-16. The D’Tigers also won the third quarter 17-16 but lost the last quarter 17-22.
The competition continues on Sunday in Angola with the current Champions, DR Congo playing against Rwanda in the third-place match. The final match will be between Morocco and Ivory Coast later on Sunday evening by 6:30 PM Nigerian time.
