Representatives of the world football-governing body, FIFA and the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) have arrived in Benin City ahead of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elections slated for September 30.

FIFA’s Head of Development Programmes for Africa, Solomon Mudege, and former Swiss international player who is FIFA’s Director for Africa, Gelson Fernandes arrived in Benin on Thursday afternoon.

“We are happy to be here and to witness another milestone in the history of Nigeria Football. We believe it is going to be an interesting Congress with the elections.” Muedge said.

The elections had been put on the hold by a court order from a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, however, a ruling by the Court of Appeal on Thursday morning ordered a stay-of-execution of an ex parte injunction secured by some disgruntled individuals a few weeks back.

It is now certain the 78th Annual General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation will hold on Frida, September 30, in Benin City, the Edo State capital alongside elections of a new Executive Committee for the nation’s supreme football–ruling body.

Except if an eleventh-hour injunction is secured by the aggrieved parties, the NFF Elections will hold.
