The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been drawn in group B of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup scheduled for Australia and New Zealand.

The Super Falcons are drawn against Australia, the Republic of Ireland and Canada in group B at the draw which took place at the Aotea Centre, Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand on Saturday evening (morning in Nigeria).

The 9-time African champions who had a poor run at the 2022 CAF Women’s Nations Cup in Morocco earlier this year came fourth behind Zambia, Morocco and winners, South Africa – their worst record since 2012 when they finished in the same position.

The Randy Waldrum-led team is the only team in Africa to have played at every FIFA World Cup since 1991.

The tournament will will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the first time that the FIFA Women’s World Cup will have two host nations, and is scheduled to take place from 20 July to 20 August 2023. The 2023 tournament will see the Women’s World Cup expanded from 24 to 32 teams.
