Flag Football Showtime Enters the Big Stage After 7 Weeks of Thrills

After seven electric weeks of fast-paced action, dramatic finishes, and jaw-dropping plays, the Flag Football Showtime Summer Series—sanctioned by the Nigeria Flag Football Federation—has reached its next chapter: The Playoffs.

Week 7 sealed the fate of teams battling for survival and glory, delivering twists right up to the final whistle. The Lagos Raptors launched themselves into the playoff conversation with a dominant 50–0 shutout over Off-SZN, climbing from fifth to fourth just in time. Off-SZN, meanwhile, closed the season winless but with heads held high for their effort.

In the matchup of giants, the Warriors edged Ikan Sports 49–36, confirming their second-place finish and sending a message that they’re ready to challenge for the crown. Ikan Sports held their ground in third despite the loss, thanks to their earlier consistency.

The L.A. Knights, already qualified, proved once more why they’re top dogs—rolling over Greenbacks Flag Football 36–19 to complete an undefeated regular season (7-0). Their mix of style, discipline, and swagger makes them the team to beat.

And in the final fixture of the day, the Panthers mauled Lagos Alpha 56–8, but it wasn’t enough to crack the top four. They finish just outside playoff territory, though their late-season surge bodes well for next year.

The Playoff Lineup Is Set:
1. L.A. Knights (7-0) – Perfect season, relentless on both ends. The favourites.
2. Warriors (6-1) – Fierce, flashy, and fired up. Looking for revenge.
3. Ikan Sports (5-2) – Sneaky good, tactically smart, and hungry for an upset.
4. Lagos Raptors (4-3) – Climbed in at the wire—momentum is real.

From Lekki to Abeokuta: The Dream Grows Bigger:
As if playoff drama wasn’t enough, the league’s rise hits a new milestone: Flag Football has been approved for demonstration at the 22nd National Sports Festival, held this May in Abeokuta, Ogun State. This groundbreaking opportunity, granted by the National Sports Commission, is a triumph for the sport’s leadership under Nigeria Flag Football Federation President Azeez Amida, and a sign that Flag Football is no longer just emerging—it’s here.
