ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers: Namibia edges Nigeria in first group game as Christabel Chukwuonye makes her international debut.

The Senior women Cricket national team of Nigeria, the female Yellow Greens on Sunday played their first game at the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa qualifiers in Uganda, but unfortunately lost by 9 runs to Namibia, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The Namibia women also known as the Capricorn Eagles in the first innings scored 122 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the end of 20.0 overs.

The female yellow Greens couldn’t match the target to win the game in the second innings, scoring 113 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end 20.0 overs.

Despite the loss, all eyes were on the 14 year old Christabel Chukwuonye of the Nigeria who made her Women T20 international debut in the game, as the game could be a start of a glamorous cricket career for the young lass.

Lucky Piety once again showed her class. She scored 43 balls, off 49 balls in the game, while Yasmeen Khan of Namibia who was named player of the match scored 59 runs of 49 balls.

Meanwhile, Etim Blessing, the Captain of the Female Yellow Greens during today’s game set a new T20 record for Nigeria, after she completed 50 T20 International matches.

Nigeria now sits bottom of group B with this loss, though the game between Rwanda and Uganda later on Sunday will determine the final standings of the group at the end of the day.

Nigeria next takes on Rwanda on Tuesday by 7:30 a.m. Nigerian time while Namibia will face Uganda later that same day.
