The City of Kano and Uyo will host the inaugural Nationwide League One (NLO) Cup, featuring the top 16 teams from the grassroots league, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Friday, November 24, and run through Saturday, December 9, 2023.
Chief Operating Officer Olushola Ogunnowo shared insights into the plans for the maiden edition of the NLO Cup, emphasizing the careful selection of teams from across the nation.
“The NLO Cup is a prestigious tournament bringing together the best clubs from Nationwide League One, promising an exciting display of talent and sportsmanship,” Ogunnowo stated.
The tournament will feature 16 carefully chosen teams, with Kano and Uyo each hosting eight teams, forming two groups of four.
Sani Abacha Stadium and Godswill Akpabio Stadium are designated as the venues for the group matches, while the grand finale is set to take place at Bwari Stadium in Abuja.
Ogunnowo further highlighted the NLO’s commitment to ensuring a memorable experience for teams and spectators alike. Accommodation and transportation subsidies have been arranged for all participating teams throughout the duration of the tournament, adding an extra layer of convenience to this grassroots football spectacle.
