Edo Football Association Board Member representing Edo Central, Mr. Kennedy Ugbodaga has commended Assemblies of God FC for making history by securing a place in the Edo State FA Cup final, an achievement that also guarantees their qualification for the Federation Cup playoff round.
The team’s impressive run in the tournament is being widely celebrated in Ekpoma as a big win for football in Edo Central.
Assemblies of God FC knocked out Delight FA in a convincing 2-0 victory to reach the final of the competition. Prior to the semi final, they defeated Living Voice 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw in the first round. They went on to beat Ine Stars 2-1 in the quarter final.
Commending their feat, Kennedy Ugbodaga
expressed his admiration for the team’s hard work.
“This achievement is extraordinary. It’s never easy for a team coming from afar to compete at this level, let alone reach the final of such a prestigious competition. Assemblies of God FC has not only broken barriers but has also made Edo Central and the entire Edo State proud,” Ugbodaga stated.
He further praised the players and coaching staff for their resilience, emphasizing that their success will serve as an inspiration to other emerging teams in the region.
“This is the first of its kind and I mustn’t fail to congratulate each and every one of the team, especially the coaches and players who has made this journey possible for this course,” he said.
