NBBF announces 20-player preliminary squad ahead of women’s AfroBasket.

As the countdown begins for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced a 20-woman preliminary list for the D’Tigress squad.

It’s a solid mix of familiar names and new faces, as Nigeria gears up to defend its continental crown.

Leading the charge are experienced campaigners like Promise Amukamara and Ezinne Kalu, bringing leadership and grit to the backcourt. Also returning are Amy Okonkwo and Nicole Enabosi, whose versatility adds depth to the forward line.

Victoria Macaulay, Christabel Ezumah, and Lauren Ebo make a strong comeback, ready to hold things down in the frontcourt.

On the flip side, there’s room for fresh energy. Young talents like Grace Efosa and Solape Amusan, making her second appearance, have been called up and will be looking to make the most of the opportunity.

Before heading into the AfroBasket showdown, D’Tigress will test their readiness on home soil. A three-day friendly tournament is set for July 18–20 at the MO Arena in Abuja, where they’ll face off against Togo and Kenya.
