NFF Considers Contract Extension for Super Falcons’ Coach Randy Waldrum

In a recent twist, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken a significant step towards extending the contract of Super Falcons’ Head Coach, Randy Waldrum.

This was revealed to the general public by Sport Journalist, Adepoju Samuel on X (Formerly known as Twitter)

Under Waldrum’s leadership, the Super Falcons reached the Round of 16 in the tournament with the team remaining unbeaten in regulation time throughout their four matches, only succumbing to a penalty shootout defeat at the hands of England.

NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, expressed his satisfaction with Waldrum’s performance, stating,

“We have given the Technical Committee the go-ahead to hold talks with Randy Waldrum as we consider an extension of his current contract with the NFF. They have to do this quickly as the team has a Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match next week.”

Randy Waldrum, who assumed the role of Super Falcons’ Head Coach in 2021, initially signed a two-year contract with the team. During his tenure, he successfully guided the team to qualify for both the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

During Waldrum’s tenure, the Super Falcons faced challenges, notably finishing fourth in the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations, a historic low.

The team won six of ten competitive games and lost four, including three at the 2022 WAFCON and one against Ghana in a WAFCON Qualifiers return leg. In total, the Super Falcons won 11, drew four, and lost 13 out of 28 games under Waldrum’s leadership.
