Nigerian Young Talent Akinwunmi Amoo Signs with Cyprus Club

Promising 21-year-old Nigerian winger, Akinwunmi Amoo has completed a transfer to Athletic Club Omonia Nicosia, a team in the Cyprus first division.

This move follows his departure from FC Copenhagen, as he puts pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Cypriot side.

The club officially announced the agreement with FC Copenhagen, stating on their website,

“We have reached an agreement with FC Copenhagen to sign 21-year-old Nigerian winger, Akinkunmi Amoo.”

Amoo’s football journey began in 2020 when he started his career with Hammarby IF. A year and a half later, he made the transition to FC Copenhagen.

However, his time at Copenhagen was marred by legal troubles. In September 2022, he faced arrest and detention in Copenhagen, Denmark, on charges related to sexual assaults. After a month in detention, he was granted bail in October 2022. Amoo now faces charges of rape in a sexual relationship other than intercourse, defamation, attempted rape, and violations involving two other women.

Akinwunmi Amoo joins Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho at the club.
