NNL Announces Postponement of 2023/2024 League Kick-Off

The Nigeria National League (NNL) board has officially postponed the kick-off date for the 2023/2024 league season, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Originally scheduled to kickoff on Saturday, October 28, the league’s commencement has been temporarily delayed, witha new date yet to be announced.

The decision to postpone the league’s opening day comes in light of the need for participating clubs to finalize their registration processes for the upcoming season. According to the NNL, teams have encountered challenges meeting the initial registration deadline, which was set for Wednesday, October 25, largely due to the economic challenges facing the country.

George Aluo, Chairman of the NNL board, expressed regret as he addressed the media, stating, “We regret to announce that the 2023/2024 league season, originally planned to kick off this Saturday at the Uyo Township Stadium in Akwa Ibom state, has been postponed to a new date. This date will be communicated to teams as soon as clubs complete their registration formalities.”

He went on to add that, with this latest development, it is necessary for clubs to expedite their registration procedures, aiming for completion by November 3, 2023. Once the registration process is concluded, the NNL board will promptly announce the new kick-off date for the league.

However, Chairman Aluo sternly warned that failure to meet the updated registration deadline would result in non-participation in the league.
