NPFL 2022/2023: League management gives verdict over Samuel Ogbemudia stadium

The management of the Nigeria Professional Football League has approved the use of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin for the 2022/2023 NPFL season.

The approval, which was contained in a letter written to the chairman of Bendel Insurance FC and dated October 11, 2022, comes at about the same time other stadia in the country were asked to be worked on after initial supervision.

The approval also added to various commendations given to the stadium by the Nigeria Football Federation and the Confederation of Africa Football in time past.

According to the letter, the stadium has met up with all necessary requirements after ticking the health facilities, spectators’ stands, security, media coverage and other boxes.

The letter signed by Uchechukwuka of the legal and compliance unit on behalf of the Head of Operations Nigeria Professional Football League reads: “Upon assessment of the inspection reports for Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, Edo State, following facilities inspection carried out on 23rd September 2022.”

“The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium is adjudged to be in a good condition to host matches for the 2022/2023 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League, as the playing field, facilities for teams, broadcast facilities, spectator stands, safety measures, and health facilities, etc. comply with acceptable standards.”

The refurbished historic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin will serve as the home ground for Bendel Insurance FC of Benin which gained promotion to the NPFL after three years in the second division of the country’s men’s football league.
