NPFL24: Insurance silence Remo in Benin with Sarki Ismael speculative strike

Sarki Ismael speculative strike made the difference at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium as Bendel Insurance humbled Remo Stars 1-0, in matchday 7 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Monday Odigie made one change to the side that played a goal less draw against Akwa last weekend. New signing from Enyimba, Chisom Okereke led the attacking line as Evans Ogbonda dropped to the bench.

With Chisom Okereke upfront, Insurance looked deadly in attack, piercing through the defence of the Sky Blue Stars, but could not find the back of the net early.

The breakthrough came in the 25th minute with a superb strike by Sarki Ismael from the side of the box as he found goalie, Charles Tambe off his line and attempted an audacious strike from a position close to the corner flag.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s side did try to get back into the game but their best chance of the game was missed by Sikiru Alimi, who headed wide a golden opportunity to level.

Towards the tail end of the game, Remo Stars thought they had gotten the equaliser in the 84th minute, but the Assistant referee had his flag raised up. The assistant referee had spotted a foul throw in the build up.

Remo Stars tried to level in the last minutes but their efforts all proved abortive as the Wall of Benin stood tall.
