NPFL24: Monday Odigie praises NPFL players, Highlights welfare challenges

Head Coach of Bendel Insurance, Monday Odigie has heaped praises on players of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), calling for more support while describing it as one of the toughest leagues globally.

After Bendel Insurance secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Remo Stars on Sunday, Coach Monday Odigie during the post-match conference took a moment to appreciate the tremendous efforts of NPFL players.

He went on to highlight the challenges faced by players, emphasizing the need to recognize the hurdles they navigate both on and off the pitch.

“We have one of the toughest leagues in the world, if not the toughest,” Coach Odigie stated.

“People often overlook the exceptional efforts put forth by these teams, considering the challenging environment, societal factors, and the limited welfare packages provided to our players. I have immense respect for these boys.”

Coach Odigie drew attention to the disparities between the welfare packages of NPFL players and those in more established football leagues.

“When we discuss welfare packages, it encompasses a range of critical factors – means of transportation, salaries, allowances, and insurance.” he explained.

Coach Monday Odigie extended his respect to all football clubs in Nigeria, emphasizing the dedication and tenacity of NPFL players who continue to shine despite the adversity they face.
