NPFL24: Rivers United whip Remo Stars in Rescheduled clash.

It was an evening filled with drama in the Nigeria Premier Football League rescheduled Matchday One clash in Port Harcourt as Rivers United secured a dominant 2-0 win against Remo Stars, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Fresh off a defeat against Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna, the Pride of Rivers were determined to reignite their season against a formidable opponent. Remo Stars, who had previously clinched victory against Enugu Rangers, were seeking a second win to build on their early success.

The Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium witnessed a spirited performance as Rivers United wasted no time, taking just 14 minutes to break the deadlock. Alex Oyowah, the former Bayelsa United midfielder, continued to shine since his arrival, calmly converting a penalty.

Despite their relentless efforts, Remo Stars could not breach the steadfast defense of the home team.

The turning point arrived late in the game when a misjudged pass from the Remo Stars’ defense fell into the path of their former striker, Andy Okpe. In a spectacular fashion, Okpe unleashed a thunderous strike from 30 yards, marking his first goal for the Pride of Rivers in the 90th minute.
