NPFL24: Teary Boboye bids Heartland farewell, thanks fans for support

Kennedy Boboye was in tears after his last game as coach of Heartland, following a 3-1 victory over table toppers, Remo Stars in matchday 16 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

At the sound of the full-time whistle, fans of the Naze Millionaires were chanting how they wanted Boboye to remain as coach of the team. This is coming after the state governor, Hope Uzodinma ordered the reinstatement of Christian Obi as coach of the Owerri-based team.

Speaking with the press in his post-match interview, Boboye was in tears as he dedicated the win to the fans of the club.

“This victory is for the fans. Imo state is where I have gotten the most support in my managerial career. I won’t be here for the next game. I wish them well, this is a place where the people had me at heart.” he said with a teary red eye.

When asked about the situation on the ground, he admitted that he was aware of the Governor’s directive as he went on to urge the players to give Obi their best.

“The number one citizen of the state made a pronouncement and this is my last game as my manager.

“Everything the players have done for me they should do for Christian Obi. He was the one who recruited them. I have told the players to give him maximum support.” He concluded.

In seven games in charge of the Naze Millionaires, Boboye won three, lost three and drew one game.
