The Nigeria Women’s Football League has announced that the NWFL Nationwide 2022/23 season will kick off on May 22 in Benin City.
In a statement on its website, the NWFL on Thursday, made it known that a total of 10 teams registered to compete in the third tier of women’s football in Nigeria. The ten teams are further split into two groups of five as two teams will secure promotion to the NWFL Championship.
The participating clubs are Castmog Ladies, Chosen Generation, First Mahi Babes, Fortress Ladies, Gallant Queens, Heroes Queens, Kaduna Queens, Papa Soccer Queens, Unification FC and Wazbak Int’l.
In a draw that was conducted, Group A comprises Heroes Queens Academy, Papa Soccer Academy, Gallant Queens, First Mahi Babes and Wazbak Int’l, while Group B houses Chosen Generation, Unification, Fortress Int’l, Kaduna Queens and Castmog Ladies.
The group games hold from May 22 to 27 with a rest day to be observed on May 25.
The last edition of the tournament was held in Benin City with four teams; Imo Strikers, Delta Babes, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens, and Lakeside Queens gaining promotion to the second-tier Championship.
