NWFLP MD 8: Remo Stars, Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels Shine

Remo Stars Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons and Abia Angels all scored big as matchday eight of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership delivered goals, drama, and crucial away victories across centres on Wednesday as tables take new shapes, Platinum News is reporting.

Hostilities began under the hot sun when Rivers Angels took on Edo Queens in Port Harcourt. Rivers Angels secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over the visitors. Abasiofon Uwah struck twice in the first half —one from the spot —while Atume Doosuur gave her side a consolatory goal that came as a equalizer before the break.

In Lagos, Remo Stars Ladies secured an emphatic 3–0 away win over Dannaz Lagos. Aishat Animashaun opened the scoring in the 14th minute before doubling her tally in the 75th. Daniella Fagbenro sealed the comfortable victory late on in the 86th minute.

At Yenagoa, defending champions Bayelsa Queens maintained their fine form with a 2–0 triumph against Ekiti Queens. Bankole Sofiat broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, while Delight Isaac added the second ten minutes after the restart.

In Ile-Ogbo, Osun Babes and Delta Queens settled for a 1–1 draw. Favour Damaris handed Delta Queens the lead in the 19th minute, but Tabitha Terlumun restored parity for the hosts just before halftime.

There were no goals in Iyamho as Confluence Queens and Sunshine Queens shared the spoils in a goalless encounter.

Adamawa Queens edged Heartland Queens 2–1 in Makwada. Omon Afensimi was the star of the day with a brace in the 18th and 55th minutes, while an own goal by Immaculate Paul in the 28th minute proved decisive despite Heartland’s efforts.

In Abuja, Naija Ratels claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over Pacesetter Queens courtesy of Omeje Chukwube’s 48th-minute strike.

One of the highest-scoring fixtures of the round came in Aba, where Abia Angels thrashed Ahudiyannem Queens 5–2 in a historic first women’s football club Abia Derby. Winner David netted a first-half hat-trick (12’, 28’, 43’), while Blessing Saleh and Obianuju Akwubo added further goals in the second half. Chiwendu Orji and Tobi Oghenerugba were on target for the hosts.

In Lafia, Nasarawa Amazons produced a dominant display to defeat FC Robo Queens 4–2. Sunday Ohunene opened the scoring in just two minutes before further goals from Ayatsea Hembafan, Jumoke Alani, and Bibiana Odoh put the hosts firmly in control. Joy Iortyom and Rafiu Tosin scored the consolation goals for Robo Queens.

At the end of matchday 8, Bayelsa Queens sit top of Group A with 21 points, the same number of points as Rivers Angels and Edo Queens occupying third place with 18 points. FC Robo Queens sits top of Group B with 21 points closely followed by Remo Stars Ladies and Nasarawa Amazons in the second and third place respectively on 18 points.
