Organisers Set Tough Rules As 8 Teams Battle For Supremacy

As the tournament enters its final preparation stage, the Supremacy Cup organisers have released the official rules for the 21st edition of the prestigious annual grassroots competition, scheduled for November 9th to 12th at the Legacy Pitch in Lagos.

Under the 11-point rules, all teams must strictly adhere to kickoff times, with every outfit required to arrive at least an hour before kickoff; any late start will reduce game time, as there will be no overlap into the next scheduled game.

The rules also state that matches will be 30 minutes per half with no half-time break, as teams will only switch sides, while unlimited substitutions will be allowed and substituted players can return in the same game, provided they maintain the same jersey numbers at all times.

In a bid to ensure discipline and sportsmanship, the organizers emphasized that all team prayers must be said before getting onto the pitch, all teams must leave the pitch immediately after the final whistle, and no form of theatrical drama or time-wasting antics will be tolerated from players.

The regulations further warned that no form of violence or match disruption will be allowed under any circumstances, stressing that all teams must respect match officials and their decisions at all times throughout the four-day tournament.

Eight teams will compete for honours at this edition, with Group A comprising 36 Lion FC, Beyond Limits FA, Edo Selected and Atlantic Selected, while Group B features Ikorodu City FC, Bariga Stars, Badagry Selected and Collin Edwin, setting up exciting battles.

Football fans and scouts are now counting down to November 9th as all eight teams prepare to storm Legacy Pitch, with the 21st edition of the Supremacy Cup promising top-quality grassroots football action under strict and professional guidelines.
