…as Shaibu appeals to Esan people to vote en-masse for the umbrella party
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has enjoined the people of Esan Land to vote en-masse for the PDP and its candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The Deputy Governor appealed Thursday during the PDP Rescue Nigeria mega rally in Edo Central Senatorial District.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters in Uromi, Shaibu in his usual dance steps to the lyrics of ‘pepper dem and buga’ told the jubilant crowd to use their PVCs to vote out APC and vote in all the PDP candidates in the Presidential, National and State House of Assembly elections, fixed for 25th February and 1lth March 2023 respectively.
According to him: “Nigeria can not continue with APC misrule, which has led us to a situation where one is unable to withdraw his own money from the bank”.
“We need to vote for all the PDP candidates from the President to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, to deliver Nigerians from the antipeople’s policies”.
“You must maintain and sustain the unit to unit, ward to ward and local government to local government campaign and ensure they vote PDP candidates across the board”Shaibu added.
A leader of the PDP in Edo State, Chief Tom Ikimi, implored “aggrieved members to embrace peace for the good of the party so that the PDP can have a favourable outing in the general elections”.
Similarly, the wife of the National Chairman of PDP, Mrs. Herbetta Iyorcha Ayu and daughter of the soil, harped on the need for aggrieved members to sheath their swords and work collectively for the good of the party.
Hundreds of APC defectors, led by a chieftain of the broom party, Chief Philip Ehizojie, were all received on behalf of the PDP National Chairman, by Edo PDP State Chairman, Hon. Tony Aziegbemi.
The defectors cited APC’s misrule and the current economic hardship Nigerians are going through as their reasons for leaving APC to join PDP.
Some of the notable PDP bigwigs present at the mega rally were Chief Kenneth Imasuagbon, aka ‘rice man’, Chief Tony Anenih Jr., Prince Joe Okojie, and many other prominent leaders of the party.
