…hosts Catholic Medical Practitioners

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has tasked the affluent and other privileged persons to cater for the welfare of the needy and less-privileged members of society.

The Deputy Governor appealed when he hosted a delegation of the Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners, Edo State Chapter, at the Government House, Benin City.

Shaibu affirmed his support for the medical body for its national conference held in Benin, the Edo State capital, while commending the team for the selfless service they planned to render to the Edo people.

According to him: “It’s quite commendable that you have embarked on this free medical outreach as part of your programs here in Benin”.

“Some of us who are privileged will keep doing our best to support in the best way we can”.

“I keep telling people that when you have clothes that you have not worn for the last six months, you don’t need to keep them; give them out to those in need. It’s time to share that which you have with the less privileged”, he added.

The Deputy Governor, however, assured the medical practitioners that at the end of their conference in Benin, the Parish Priest in charge of St. Paul Catholic Church, Benin City, will be consulted to know how the State Government will collaborate on the health care sector.

He also appealed to members of the public who are privileged by God’s blessings to ensure that they do their best to visit the sick in hospitals, as part of their work of mercy to help pay the bills of those who are less privileged.

Speaking earlier, the President, Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners, Edo State Chapter, Dr. Fidelis Eki-Udoko, intimated the Deputy Governor about its free medical outreach, which is part of the conference activities taking place in Benin.

According to him: “We’re hosting the national conference of the federation and it begins today and will end on Saturday.

He appreciated the Deputy Governor while commending him for his kind gesture for what he does for humanity.

“Keep doing what you do because it’s the right thing to do. We’re ready to collaborate with Edo State Government to ameliorate the challenges in the healthcare sector” he added.

He however appealed for state government support by subsidizing medical care at the Catholic Medical Center of Saint Paul Catholic Church.
