…Deputy Governor unveils Okpekpe ultra-modern youth hall
As the February 25 general elections fast approach, Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu and his wife, Maryann have embarked on a mobilization and sensitization tour of Edo North Senatorial District, to canvass support for PDP candidates.
Flag-bearers of the party contesting for the Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats, including chieftains, members and supporters of the PDP in the district are key actors in the mobilization and sensitization campaign exercise which kicked off Wednesday.
The Deputy Governor and his entourage were received Thursday by a mammoth crowd of party faithful, as they stormed Okpekpe (Etsako East); lmieke, Ayua and Elele in Etsako West – as well as Warrake and lvbiaro, in Owan East Local Government Area. His spouse has been on the ground since Tuesday, leading the women’s train, crisscrossing the six local government areas of Edo North. It has been a two-pronged political mobilisation.
Shaibu’s message to the people in all the wards visited was anchored on voting for the right party and its candidates at the polls.
“My people, this coming election in February is very important to us as Edo people and Nigerians. The election is very critical because it will determine where our great country, Nigeria will be in the next four years. If you registered and have not collected your permanent voter card, PVC, l beg you to go collect yours without further delay”.
” If you already have your PVC, please guard it jealously. Don’t sell your PVC to selfish politicians who want to mortgage your future and the future of your children. These evil politicians don’t have your interest at heart; they are wicked.”
“On the day of the election, go out and vote for credible and God-fearing leaders who mean well for Edo State and Nigeria. Let’s vote out insecurity, poverty, kidnapping, unemployment and devaluation of our naira so that Edo State and indeed, Nigeria can move forward”.
“The only party that can rescue Nigeria is PDP. Edo people and Nigerians are tired of the APC-led Federal Government. I urge you to vote for PDP, the umbrella party and all our candidates in the February elections so that Edo State and Nigeria will be great again”.
” Vote Atiku Abubakar for President, our Senatorial, House of Representatives, House of Assembly all other PDP candidates in general elections, so that together, we can fix and rescue Nigeria”, Shaibu added.
The Deputy Governor had earlier commissioned the Okpekpe ultra-modern youth hall, completed by him in collaboration with Senator Francis Alimikhena, amidst pomp.
The highlight of the mobilization and sensitization campaign tour was courtesy visits by the Deputy Governor and his entourage to traditional rulers and village heads of the various communities. He also received scores of decampees into the PDP from opposition parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Some of the PDP candidates on the campaign tour were Senator Francis Alimikhena, Edo North Senatorial candidate; Andrew Momodu, Etsako Federal Constituency, Hon. Jimoh ljegbai, Owan Federal Constituency and Dr. Felix lyalomhe, Edo House of Assembly for Etsako West Constituency 11.
