Following rumours that Amaju Pinnick has an influence over the choice of Findi George as coach of the super Eagles, the former football chief has warned Nigerians to stop throwing tantrums, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
Pinnick had earlier on suggested the Enyimba coach, Findi George as a good option for the Nigeria Male National Team, if an indigenous coach is to be considered.
In a radio call-in interview on Lagos Talks Sport Zone, the immediate past president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Pinnick, responded to these claims as unfounded.
“People should stop throwing tantrums to say things that are not. I have been a part of the football family in Nigeria since 1999, if any believes I have something to offer, I am free.
“If he needs to contact me for any issue he can contact me. I am a Nigerian and want to work for the country”, Pinnick declared on his availability to offer advice.
On the choice of Findi George as coach of the national team, Amaju explained why he supports the decision to appoint the former Ajax player.
“If it was Samson Siasia or Emmanuel Amuneke that were assistant to Peseiro, I don’t have issues with that. The NFF decided to have an indigenous coach because of time, the World Cup qualifiers and AFCON qualifiers.
“So the transition should be smooth. From Peseiro to Finidi who has been part of the team for the past two years.
“Is he technically sound? I’m not going to tell you 100 per cent. Finidi played under some of the best coaches, such as Louis Van Gaal, as a coach he even most recently won the Nigeria Premier Football League”, Amaju concluded.
Finidi George was announced on Monday by the NFF as the new head coach of the Nigeria Male National Team.
