Super Eagles Forward Umar Sadiq Suffers Season-Ending ACL Injury

Real Sociedad has announced that Super Eagles Forward Umar Sadiq has suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament rapture and would require surgery after their latest La Liga encounter.

The 25-year-old striker suffered the injury after landing awkwardly following a Dribble from a Getafe Player and had to be substituted in the 38th Minute, a match Real Sociedad went on to lose 2-1.

The Coach of the White and Blues Imanol Algulci had expressed concerns over the striker’s situation post-match on Sunday evening as he said the images of the Injury have been Ugly and that has to wait for the test to be carried out but it seems his fears have been confirmed the Lanky centre forward has Damaged his knee and would require surgery.

The Club announced via social media, “Sadiq has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. The player will undergo surgical treatment. Further information will be provided in the coming days”

The Injury may well mean that Sadiq would be out for the rest of the season meaning he would not feature for the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they face Algeria in the Next international break and also Portugal in November which would be a big blow for Coach Jose Peseiro who was set to name him in his squad for Both Friendly.

The Kaduna-Born attacker Joined Real Sociedad during the summer transfer window deadline day for €20m and signed a six-year contract with the Spanish Side who are currently 11th in the La Liga standings and gaining 7 points from 5 matches. He has made 4 appearances for the side in all competitions scoring 2 goals.
