The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has yet again postponed the start of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 2023/24 season.
This was made known to all 20 clubs participating in the top-flight of Nigerian football dated Wednesday, September 6. The reason cited this time is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
“We have everything set for the kickoff in Ibadan on Saturday but following representations from multiple stakeholders and more cogent is the complex logistics involved in having our Chairman and Clubs leadership travel from Ibadan to Uyo”, Owumi told the Press.
Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer, explained that the postponement was necessary due to the logistical challenges of having the Chairman and Club leaders travel from Ibadan to Uyo.
Clubs have been informed of the postponement, and the flag-off game scheduled for Saturday, September 9, has been cancelled. A new kickoff date will be announced shortly.
