“Respect should be given to the team” – Yemi Daniel responds to critics

Enyimba’s coach, Yemi Olanrewaju has reacted to criticism towards his side, stating that respect should be given to his team.

Yemi’s reaction came after a three nil victory over their opponent Katsina United at the Enyimba Stadium.

The match which took place in the early hours of Monday, October 7,2024 saw three goals in the first half. The goals came from Ekene Awazie, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Nweke Kalu.

The People’s Elephant sits second on the log after five matches with 12 points, a point behind league leaders, Rivers United.

In the post match interview, Coach Yemi Daniel reminded fans that his side is the only team in Nigeria playing continental football.

He also said there are bound to be criticism especially for a big club like Enyimba but it is just the beginning of the season and the have so far done well.

He said, ” I know there are bound to be criticism but this team has done well, we have lost just a game in seven or eight matches and we are second on the table.”

“I think respect should be given to the team and a bit of commendation. I am not saying people should praise us but the criticism should be less because we have 21 new players and we are playing like this, I think we deserve a pat at the bag,” he added.
