The Edo State Football Association, in collaboration with Magnet African Studio, is set to host its first-ever Media Enlightenment Program for grassroots football clubs in the state.
The one-day event is scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Media Centre of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The event, tagged Game On and themed Leveraging Media for Football Club Growth, will feature prominent speakers and media experts from England and across Nigeria. These include the Edo State Football Association Chairman, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, and the Head of Media/Publicity for the Edo FA, Ken Ugbodaga.
Respected figures in the media and sports industries are set to share their expertise. Among them are British journalist Simon Hughes; CAF/FIFA-accredited photojournalist Justina Aniefiok; media personality and consultant Mansa Ayoola Adeleke (RSS); and Adepoju Tobi Samuel, CAF/FIFA-accredited photojournalist and Chief Executive Officer of OgaNlamedia.
This initiative is designed to educate grassroots football clubs on the role of media in their development and the benefits it can bring to their visibility and growth. Attendees will learn about the importance of media in the sports sector and how they can use it effectively to build and promote their clubs.
A key part of the program will be dedicated to guiding teams without a social media presence on setting up their own accounts and connecting them with sports journalists to manage their social media, helping to showcase their talent and potential on a global scale.
Through these discussions and training sessions, participants will gain invaluable insights into media management and effective storytelling, ultimately empowering grassroots clubs to elevate their public profiles and attract greater support and opportunities.
