The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant boost in the prize money for the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. The prize for the tournament winner has been doubled, while the overall prize pool has been increased by 45%.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to advancing women’s football on the continent. He stated that the substantial rise in prize money is expected to positively impact the wages of female players, coaches, and other professionals involved in the sport.
“The standard of women’s football in Africa continues to rise and is now world-class,” Dr. Motsepe said. “We are thrilled with the growing support from fans, television audiences, and sponsors ahead of this year’s tournament, which promises to be a huge success.”

Prize distribution for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Morocco 2024 is as follows:
- Winner: USD 1,000,000
- Runner-up: USD 500,000
- Third place: USD 350,000
- Fourth place: USD 300,000
- Quarter-finalists (4 teams): USD 200,000 each
- Third in group stage: USD 150,000
- Fourth in group stage (3 teams): USD 125,000 each
Total Prize Pool: USD 3,475,000
