Africa’s football governing body, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has included a Nigerian referee in its newly released list of match officials for the second edition of the CAF Women’s champions league.
In the list of 29 match officials – 10 centre referees, 12 Assistant referees and seven Video Assistant Referees (VAR) – Patience Madu Ndidi was the only Nigerian selected as centre referee for the annual women’s continental showpiece.
Patience Madu officiated at the just concluded FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica and the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Patience Madu will not be the only Nigerian flagbearer at the tournament with the defending champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Bayelsa Queens, qualifying for the tournament after emerging as WAFU-B Champions.
