The football governing body in Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that West African referees will take charge of Nigeria’s 2023 Championship of African Nations qualifiers playoff against Ghana this month and early next month.
According to CAF in a statement on Monday, Beninese officials will officiate the first leg of the fixture with officials from Sierra Leone serving as Match Commissioner, COVID-19 official and Referee assessor.
“Issa Mouhamed from Benin will officiate Ghana’s 1st leg qualifier against Nigeria at the Cape Coast Stadium.
“He will be assisted by countrymen, Eric Ayimavo Ayamr Ulrich (Assistant I), Koudogbo Augustin Augustin Kougbemede (Assistant) and Dedjinnanchi Tanisla Ahomlanto Dedjinnanchi (Fourth referee).
Prince Kai Squee and Sanusie Rashid from Sierra Leon will serve as Match Commissioner and Referee Assessor respectively while Christiana Baah works as a COVID-19 Officer,” CAF statements read.
The football governing body in Africa also announced the officials that will take charge of the second leg fixture in Abuja between Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team and their counterpart from Ghana, the Black Galaxies.
“Boubou Traore from Mali will oversee the 2nd leg of the CHAN qualifier between Nigeria and Ghana in Abuja,” the statements from CAF read.
“Before that game though, the Black Galaxies of Ghana will host the first leg at the Cape Coast Stadium on August 28, 2022.
“The 36-year-old will be assisted by Modibo Samake (Assistant I) Nouhouk Bamba (Assistant II) and Mahamoudou Keita (fourth official).”
The first leg of the clash between Ghana and Nigeria is scheduled for the Cape Coast Stadium, Ghana on August 28th while the second leg of the qualifiers will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
