Team Edo added to her medals haul at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba with two medals in Para Powerlifting as they continue their quest for a successful festival.
Abosede Bejide in the 50kg Women’s Para Powerlifting lifted 126 to beat her opponents from Team Delta and KATSINA who claimed Silver and bronze medals respectively.
The Etsako born lifter expressed delight in claiming the Gold medal crediting it to God’s grace for her and hard work she put into months of rigorous training.
“I’m so happy for this feat, I bless Almighty God for it. The next thing for me now is to keep working harder as the target I’m setting for myself is that I must work harder to make the Olympics because I also want to be an Olympian.
“It took a lot of training and determination for me that I must excel at this competition and it worked out.”
“I want to dedicate this win to God and to the Deputy Governor for his 53rd birthday.”
In the 45kg, Aboki Loveth lifted 110kg to pick Silver medal for Team Edo behind Latifat who won Gold for team Ogun as Tolulope of Team Ondo went home with the Bronze medal.
In Teakwondo Team Poomsae, Team Edo won Bronze in Men category behind behind Team Bayelsa, Lagos and in women’s category behind Delta and Bayelsa.
Activities continue for the team in other categories on Saturday as they look to add to the medal haul.
