NPFL Prize Money Increased by 50 percent

GTI Asset Management & Trust Limited, partners of the Nigeria Premier Football League, have made an exciting announcement regarding the prize money for the upcoming 2023/2024 season increasing the NPFL prize money by 50 per cent.

On Thursday, the head of media and publicity of GTI/TNFF, Andrew Ekejiuba, shared the news with journalists in Lagos.

In a significant boost to the league, GTI’s involvement in the country’s football ecosystem has opened doors for the top-flight league to flourish.

As a testament to this commitment, the prize money for the winners of the 2023/2024 season has been substantially increased. The champions of next year’s title will now be awarded a whopping N150 million along with a grand trophy.

Additionally, the second and third-place finishers will also be generously rewarded financially, acknowledging their commendable efforts in the competition.

The decision to raise the prize money from N100 million to N150 million for the winners was prompted by a desire to elevate the overall value of the league and prevent the outflow of top talents to less rewarding leagues abroad.

“Therefore, the 2023/24 season will see an upward review of their prize money from N100m to N150m for the winners, while the second and third-placed teams will receive financial rewards for their efforts.

“This became necessary to add more monetary value to the league and end the mass movement of our best legs to obscure leagues as a result of poor remunerations,” he said.

With this new development, the 2023/2024 NPFL season promises to be a fiercely contested and captivating affair, as 20 clubs gear up to battle it out for football glory in Nigeria’s elite tournament.
