USFA and Sam Nelly Play Out Goalless Draw in an Intense Clash

A keenly contested encounter unfolded at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium as USFA from Burkina Faso faced off against Benin Republic’s Sam Nelly.

The 90-minute regulation time witnessed a total of 33 fouls, reflecting the intensity of the match. Despite the battle on the field, neither team managed to find the net, resulting in a goalless draw.

USFA caught offside on 12 different occasions, and poured their efforts into securing a spot in the semi-finals of the WAFU B Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League. Their determination manifested in eight shots, with three on target. However, their attempts were in vain as they were unable to convert any into goals.

In contrast, Sam Nelly, making their tournament debut, posed a more significant attacking threat with 12 shots, six of which were on target. Despite their relentless efforts, they too failed to break the deadlock. The game saw the ball striking the crossbar three times without finding the back of the net.

The current standings in Group A show that Delta Queens have secured their spot in the semi-finals with three points and a +3 goal difference. Sam Nelly occupies the second position with one point and a goal difference of 0. USFA, holding one point and a -3 goal difference, are facing an uphill battle to remain in the tournament. Their hopes hinge on the performance of Delta Queens, who would need to score more than three goals to keep USFA’s chances alive in the competition.
