Egypt halts Historic run of Nigeria U-18 Women’s Handball Team

Nigeria U-18 women’s handball team were defeated by defending champions Egypt 32-18 in the semi-final of the Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship ongoing in Monastir, Tunisia on Friday.

The Nigerian ladies needed to defeat Egypt to maintain the form and spirit with which they made history on Wednesday when they qualified for Nigeria’s first-ever world handball championship after defeating Morocco.

Luck however ran against them when they faced a more experienced Egyptian side who showed they are a hard nut to crack.

Nigeria will now play Angola, who was surprisingly defeated by Guinea 25-21 in the other semi-final match, in the third-place match while Egypt will play Guinea in the final.

The final and the third place match will be played on Saturday with Nigeria vs Angola fixed for 4 pm Nigerian time while the final match between Egypt and Guinea will be played at 6:30 pm.
