Nigeria wins bronze at 2023 African U-18 Women’s Handball Nations Championship.

The U-18 women’s handball team of Nigeria on Saturday evening clinched a bronze medal at the African U-18 women’s championship in Monastir, Tunisia.

The Nigerian ladies who fell to defending champions, Egypt, on Friday, needed to seal their historic run on Saturday evening by defeating Angola, which they did, winning their opponents 28-24.

The Nigerians who are the first U-18 women’s handball team to feature in the tournament since 2000(23 years ago), convincingly won the first half 12-7.

Their opponents however came strong in the second half but the Superb Nigerians remained resolute, restricting them to just a single-point lead, which was enough to seal victory for the Nigerians. The second half ended 16-17.

The Nigerian ladies are the first U-18 women’s handball team to make a podium finish at the Championship in 23 years.

The Nigerian U-18 handball female team are the first ever U-18 women’s handball team to qualify for the Women’s Youth World Handball Championship.
