“I will retire when I am ready, nobody can force me” – Onome Ebi

Super Falcons Captain, Onome Ebi, has made it clear that no one can push her into retirement from football amidst calls for the 40-year-old defender to hang up her boots, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The former Bayelsa Queens and FC Minsk defender recently inked a deal with Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) side Naija Ratels as a free agent where she will earn 1.5 million per month.

During a conversation on Brila FM, Ebi, who has been a stalwart for the Super Falcons since 2003, revealed that the decision regarding her retirement would be entirely hers, and no one can compel her to step away from the game.

“When I’m done, I would make that decision myself; nobody is going to talk or force me into retirement or make me stop playing football,”

She went on to express her passion for the sport, stating, “It’s the game I love; it is the game I enjoy so much. When I’m satisfied that I can no longer play, then I will call it a day because nobody can make me retire when I’m not ready,” she concluded.

Onome Ebi who was a part of the Super Falcons Squad that represented Nigeria in this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will not play in the upcoming Olympics Qualifiers.
