He specifically praised the team’s captain, Kenneth Omeruo, for his supportive gesture, mentioning how Omeruo’s encouragement boosted his confidence.
In an exclusive interview with platinumnewsng.com, Obasogie spoke highly of Omeruo’s influential role in camp, he praised the captain’s welcoming demeanour and described him as a legendary figure in the sport.
“Jose Peseiro was very happy to see me, and the captain, Kenneth Omeruo, who showed me around the camp. He boosted my confidence by speaking to everyone in camp about me. His good personality and legendary status in the game made me feel comfortable,” Obasogie praised.
Reflecting on his initial interaction with Omeruo, Obasogie expressed gratitude for the welcoming atmosphere and camaraderie within the Super Eagles team, describing them as “lovely.”
The Nigeria Premier Football League goalkeeper with the most clean sheets also expressed immense joy and pride after receiving a call-up to join the Super Eagles squad for the forthcoming matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on the Likuena of Lesotho in the evening of Thursday, November 16 in the first match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, at the Nest of Champions, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
