The Nigeria Premier Football League is set to mandatorily ensure all 20 teams have Insurance schemes for their team and players, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
According to the league management headed by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, he revealed that the NPFL board has been working hard to ensure every club in the league as well as it’s players are well insured.
In an interview on Brila FM, Elegbeleye told Nigerians that the plan has been on ground since last season but it could not be materialised due to some issues.
“It should be mandatory for NPFL clubs to have insurance. When we came onboard last season, we had discussions with two insurance companies to come onboard.” He revealed.
He however noted that he is hopeful that it will be fully implemented.
“Since last season we were unable to have it done but for this season, we are working on it. The next time we will have our Annual General Meeting. I am hopeful this will be brought up for it to be implemented.” Elegbeleye added.
