AFCON 2023: CAF sets deadline for squad submission

Super Eagles Handler, Jose Peseiro and 23 other senior men’s national team coaches have been mandated by Africa’s top football governing body, Confederation of African Football (CAF) to submit their final 23-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The deadline set for January 3rd, 2024, will see the team submit their final squad list for the tournament which tentatively will be held in Cote D’Ivoire.

CAF in a communique directed all the 24 participating countries in the biennial competition to submit their respective squads 10 days before the start of the tournament that will run from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Cote d’Ivoire.

Peseiro and the other coaches, however, are also expected to serve CAF with a 55-man provisional squad before the end of December 2023, with many Nigerians hoping to see the Super Eagles make it farther than the Round of 16 where they suffered a one-goal defeat to the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at the last AFCON.
