The Nigeria Football Federation has reached an agreement with Jose Peseiro to extend his contract as the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Male National Team, the Super Eagles.
As first reported by Adepoju Samuel, the new deal will see the targets from the original contract of May 2022, with Peseiro’s goal remaining to guide the Super Eagles to at least the semi-finals of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations set. take place in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Portuguese tactician has led the Super Eagles through the qualifiers, securing a spot with one game to spare. Notably, they achieved a remarkable 10-0 victory against Sao Tome and Principe in Agadir Morocco, in June 2022.
“As stipulated in the original contract, drawn in May 2022, the Portuguese has been handed the mandate to lead the Super Eagles to, in the minimum, the semi finals of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations finals taking place in Cote d’Ivoire in a few months.” The NFF stated
In light of the new agreement, Peseiro has accepted a reduced salary, and will not only oversee the Super Eagles but also the B team (CHAN Eagles), which consists of home-based professionals competing in the African Nations Championship.
Peseiro will lead the Super Eagles when they face Sao Tome and Principe next weekend.
