The Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, fondly known as the Nest of Champions will host the Super Eagles in their last qualifying game against Sao Tome and Principe.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno revealed this information after a meeting with the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, in Uyo on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Accompanied by board members, the NFF President announced that a series of six international matches will take place in Akwa Ibom State between now and January 2025.

The first of the six is scheduled for Sunday, September 10, 2023, featuring the Super Eagles of Nigeria facing São Tomé and Principe’s national team. This match marks the culmination of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Nigeria has qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with one game to spare after defeating Sierra Leone 3-2.
