The scorching sun at the Western Boys Mini Stadium bore witness to an exhilarating showdown as Remo Stars Ladies, secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over defending champions, FC Robo Queens at the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament quarter-finals platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The Lagos-based side came out of the dressing room with relentless pressure on Remo Stars, and their early efforts paid off with a goal. Fans at the stadia witnessed FC Robo drawing first blood, with Ogbuche Chidima finding the net as early as the fifth minute. There was however a serious life-threatening injury scare as Sunday Opeyemi sustained an head injury but swift medical attention from the paramedics on ground ensured she was stable before being carried out of the pitch. The game became more intense as the Lagos Landladies fought to get back into the game. 90+12 saw Praise Aigbojie red carded after a handball offence.

Speaking with Praise Aigbojie, she expressed her excitement over scoring boldly affirming Remo’s goal is to win the tournament.

“I am happy about winning. We are going to win the final. When the season begins, I am going to do better and we are going to the Super Six.”


With this impressive win, Remo Stars Ladies have booked their spot in the semi-finals, setting up a clash with Edo Queens. It’s a rematch that promises to be intense, as the last time these two sides met at this tournament, Edo Queens emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline in the group stages.
