Head coach of Remo Stars Ladies, Coach Wemimo Matthew is brimming with determination as the Ikenne based side is getting ready to take on Edo Queens in the semi final of Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, on Monday evening, platinumnewsng.com is exclusively reporting.
Despite being in existence for just two months, Remo Stars Ladies have swiftly become a force to be reckoned with at the biggest women’s pre-season tournament by defeating Naija Ratels and even outclassing the defending champions, FC Robo.
In the group stage of the tournament, the team was without Wemimo but, Assistant coach, John Niyi was on the touchline. However, she was available for the quarter final clash against Robo Queens as she recently returned from a coaching course in Morocco.
Speaking exclusively with platinumnewsng.com, the former Edo Queens coach believes that Remo’s shocking success is rooted in hard work.
“In football, you either win or lose, and the defending champions found themselves on the losing end, The secret to our good play is hardwork. The coaching staff and the players are working hard.” she humbly stated.
When discussing the upcoming semi-final against Edo Queens, who previously bested them 2-1, Coach Wemimo seem to be getting ready as she noted.
“We may not have expected to face Edo Queens, but we’re ready for the challenge. The semi-final will be a true test, and the better side will emerge victorious.”
Coach Wemimo also expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation for selecting her to represent the country at the coaching course in Morocco.
“It was a great experience travelling to Morocco for a coaching course, I am grateful to the NFF board for nominating me to represent Nigeria in that course.”
Remo Stars will take on Edo Queens at the Western Boys mini stadium on Monday by 4pm for a ticket to the final.
