BPAN Boss Throws Support Behind Osun Boxers, Donates Boxing Ring

In a bid to enhance the sport of boxing in Nigeria, BPAN President Omonlei Yakubu Imadu has generously donated a brand-new boxing ring to the Osun State Sports Council. The donation was formally presented on September 7th in Osogbo, underscoring Imadu’s dedication to promoting boxing excellence in the country.

The Yucateco Boss was received by members of the Osun State Sports Council led by the SSA to the state Governor of Sports, Hon. Sefiu Iyiola Babatunde. Special Assistant to the Osun State Deputy Governor of Sports, Prince Kolawole Joseph, as well as General Manager, Osun State Sports Council, Mr Rotimi Dunmoye.

The Senior Special Adviser to the Osun state Governor on Sports Hon. Sefiu, praised the BPAN boss for his commitment to developing amateur boxing in Nigeria.

“We are truly appreciative of Mr Imadu’s efforts to grow boxing not only in Osun state but in Nigeria as a whole, the Ring he has donated to the state sports council has provided another breeding ground for our coaches to discover more boxing talent”

“Our governor, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, is passionate about sports development, hence he instructed me and other members of the state sports council to be here today to formally receive the BPAN president and his team”

Sefiu further stated the state sports council is already in talks with Yucateco Boxing promotions to advance collaborations on boxing development in Osun state.

Imadu, who’s also constructing a boxing Gymnasium for the Lagos State Sports Commission, said he aims to provide boxing facilities in several states to enhance the development of the sports at the grassroots.

“I am truly excited we finally made this happen for pugilists in Osogbo and its environs, we started in Lagos and today it’s the turn of Osun, subsequently we would get to other states with similar donations”The initiator of the widely followed Yucateco boxing league said with adequate sporting facilities, the country can produce talents that will dominate at major international tournaments.

“Boxing is only one of several sports that craves the right facilities for talent development; once we get this right, Nigeria will rank tops across several sports in no distant future”.

The BPAN president has received several commendations for his contributions to boxing development in Nigeria. The most recent was that of the President of the African Boxing Union (ABU), Houcine Houichi, who described Imadu as an asset to boxing in Africa.

Dignitaries at the event include Osun State Sports Council Director Coach and Training Diani Ademola, Secretary Osun State Boxing Association Mrs Amiola, and the Director of Sports Organization Ogunbanwo Ronke, amongst others
