BPAN President Launches Ambitious Boxing Academy Project in Ajegunle

As part of his effort to develop amateur boxing in Nigeria, the CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions and President of the Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria, Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, is set to initiate a boxing Academy in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos state.

The (BPAN) chief made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, on Monday. Imadu, who was in the company of the international vice president of the Boxing Promoters Association Nigeria, Saleh Fawaz, also had with him the Technical Director of the Yucateco Boxing Promotions, Babatunde Laguda, and other executive members of the boxing outfit.

The Yucateco boss and his team were warmly received by members of the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Sports Council led by the Director General, Mr. McAnthony Anaelechukwu, before proceeding for a meeting with the sports-loving LGA boss Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola.

Imadu said the Academy is aimed at introducing the youth of Ajegunle to the rudiments of boxing as well as breeding those with innate potential for greater success.

“The Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA is known for its drive-in sports and youth empowerment in Lagos state, hence our resolve to bring the Yucateco boxing academy to Ajegunle”

“Sporting talents abound in Ajegunle, and we hope to raise the next generation of boxing superstars through this initiative”

In his remarks, the Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, expressed delight in receiving Imadu and his team, as he assures the Yucateco boss of his maximum support in making the Academy a reality.

“On our part as government, we have done so much for our young people through sports by creating the infrastructure for them to express their potential, and initiatives of this nature will further take our kids off the street and channel their energy towards something more productive”

“The LGA is ready to give Mr. Imadu all the support he needs to make this Academy come to live in Ajegunle as there are several young people who are interested in boxing in our communities, and this will help take their career to a whole new level”

According to Imadu, the Boxing Promoters Association Of Nigeria, under his leadership, is committed to developing boxing in Nigeria, and in collaboration with the Yucateco Boxing Promotions, they hope to establish boxing academies in every local government area in the country.
