With three days to the much-awaited CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round match between Bendel Insurance of Benin and ASO Chlef of Algeria, Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has beaten drums of support for the team and sent an invitation to well-meaning Nigerians to grace the match.
Shaibu on his social media platforms Wednesday morning made the call to the sons and daughters of the state and other people in the state and beyond to come and give Bendel Insurance full support as they host ASO Chlef of Algeria.
Shaibu ruminating on how long the journey has been and how long the team had last appeared on the continent pleaded that the good people of Edo State should come out and support the team in the game that would determine their progress to another round.
“We waited for 43 years to get the FA Cup won and here’s what the FA Cup has given us – CONTINENTAL FOOTBALL!”
“Dear well-meaning sons and daughters of Edo, let’s all come out this Saturday and rally around our boys to give us glory.”
